Sanjay Banga has been appointed as the Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL) and has also been re-designated as President – Renewables at TATA Power . Previously serving as President – Transmission and Distribution, he has overseen operations across Mumbai, Delhi, Ajmer, and Powerlinks Transmission. With nearly 30 years of experience in the power sector, Banga possesses deep expertise in operational technologies, utility process reengineering, project management, and regulatory affairs—key elements in advancing India's renewable energy transition.
Before this, Banga held the position of CEO at Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited (Tata Power-DDL), where he played a pivotal role in modernizing utility operations. His elevation comes at a crucial time as Tata Power accelerates its renewable energy initiatives, strengthening its presence in rooftop solar and maintaining a robust EPC order book. With an integrated solar supply chain and a strong commitment to sustainable growth, Banga’s leadership is set to propel TPREL’s next phase of expansion.
